Addiction to Pain Meds - The Accidental Addiction

Addiction to pain meds is a growing problem. Many people who end up addicted to pain meds never thought it could happen to them because they never used recreational drugs and lived a drug free life. Then they end up with a severe injury or illness that required the use of Hydrocodone,Oxycodone HCL, Oxymorphone, Meperdine or another opioids and had to depend on them to control pain while they carried on with life.

Addiction doesn't always happen because someone is abusing drugs. Patients may be using their drugs as prescribed, but if they have chronic pain issue and have to be on those drugs for a long period of time, their body becomes used to having that drug in their system. They can build up a tolerance and require a higher dose just to get relief from their genuine pain.

Once they realize they are addicted, the nightmare begins for them. They don't want to be addicted but since they have genuine pain issues, they need the drugs to be able to function. They need to be able to  control the pain so that they can work, take care of their family and carry on in their life.

So they have a huge dilemma and are probably quite ashamed as well. The genuinely need the pain meds but they also realize that their drug use is becoming a serious problem. They do not wish to live a life on chronic pain, nor do they want to be an addict. They may have an image to maintain, lead a respectable life and have a background where they have always been anti-drug. Yet here they are - addicted to pain meds.

This is a real problem in the world of opioid addiction and one that needs professional help to be dealt with, both for the addiction and for the chronic pain issues. help is available but you have to admit the problem first.

Getting Help for Angel Dust Addiction

One of the most dangerous drugs that is abused in America today is angel dust. Originally created for medical use, it was found to cause extreme hallucinations and cause patients to become delirious. It was discontinued for medical use due to the extreme effects it had on patients. However, it quickly became popular on the black market.

When a person is on the drug, extreme visual and auditory hallucinations may occur. The user loses the ability to rationalize. Some may even become hostile. This is why it is critical that anyone addicted to is find help as soon as possible.

If you are addicted to PCP, you need to look into the treatment centers in your region. You may want to get the assistance of a trusted friend or family member due to the extreme effects of phencyclidine.

Once you enter the rehabilitation center, you will have the opportunity to detox from the chemicals in your body. The medical staff will monitor you and make sure you get through it safely.

After that, the staff will help you to navigate through life without drugs. You will have the opportunity to speak with a personal counselor and participate in group meetings with other patients. These therapeutic sessions will help you to cope with the emotional swings that accompany the early stages of getting clean from drugs.

In addition, the staff will help you to arrange for follow up treatment at a facility near you. It may take some time of discussion and work in order to fully reclaim your life. Attendance at support groups is often suggested.

If you are ready to improve the quality of your life, find a rehabilitation center that can assist you. You will be grateful that you made the effort to reclaim your life.

Putting Together A Long Term Addiction Treatment Plan

Technically, any treatment plan devised to treat the problem of addiction should be considered a long-term treatment plan, as the treatment and recovery will be taking place over a long amount of time. When medical professionals and experienced addiction treatment professionals refer to long-term treatment plans, they are speaking more from the planning aspect of this long term recovery. Planning out the entire recovery from detox to sober living, to continued addiction counseling can spread anywhere from one year to several years, to a lifetime.

While not all programs will plan out every detail of recovery throughout your lifetime, a good long-term addiction treatment and recovery plan will take you through all of your initial detox sessions, into treatment in an outpatient or inpatient facility, through sober living, and continue through any necessary follow-up treatments or additional counseling.

It has been proven that an individual that enters into a well-planned addiction treatment and recovery program, will have an easier time throughout their recovery, and has a much higher success rate of a full addiction recovery. While a good plan is only half the battle, that good plan gives you a better entry into the fight against addiction, and a better chance at a wholehearted involvement into the recovery process.

The Real Cost On An Addiction To Pain Meds

Millions of people around the globe end up developing an addiction to prescription pain meds. In the beginning stages of an addiction, many people are able to trick their doctors into believing that they are in more pain than they actually in order to secure prescriptions for increasing amounts of pain meds, such as Hydrocodone and Oxycodone. Eventually, however, a doctor is likely to start trying to reduce the amount of pills that they prescribed.

Once an addict is refused pain meds from his or her doctor, the addict will most likely restore to securing his or her supply of prescription medications from questionable sources. There are now hundreds of offshore online pharmacies supplying illegal prescription drugs to addicts. These illegal prescription drugs are often laced with contaminates and they also often contain unregulated amounts of the active ingredients. In addition, illegal prescription drugs can be very expensive and addicts often end up turning to a life of crime in order to fund their addictions.

Fortunately, with the right help, it is possible for a person to recover from an addition to Oxycodone HCL, Hydrocodone, Oxymorphone and various other pain meds. Unfortunately, however, professional rehabilitation centers can be very expensive and many people can not afford to pay for the professional help that they need.

Undergoing detox without medical supervision can be very dangerous, as the effects of withdrawal can be life threatening. Many addicts are aware of the fact that stopping their intake of pills suddenly, without medical supervision, is dangerous, but since they can't afford to pay for such supervision, they continue their addiction to prescription pain meds. There are some government funded prescription med addiction support programs around, but such programs are few and far between and almost none existent in rural areas.

About Steroids – The Good And The Harmful

When it comes to steroids, there are actually two types: anabolic and corticosteroid. Between the two, anabolic is the one that’s been abused by body builders who want to build muscle fast. Corticosteroid steroids, on the other hand, are used to treat a variety of symptoms including arthritis, asthma, lupus, multiple sclerosis, eczema, rashes and certain types of cancer.

Steroids are also referred to as roids, stackers or juice. They’re really nothing more than body hormones. Cortisone and estrogen are common steroids. What do they do? They simulate male hormones in the body. The only time you should be using steroids is when you’re having delayed puberty, are having erection problems or are suffering from hypogonadism. Since steroid drugs can be misused, only a small number of them are accepted in the United States for animal and human use.

What are the long-term effects of steroids? In men, they can shrink testicles, cause balding and the formation of breasts. In women, they could impact the menstrual cycle. You only need to do some research on the Internet to know that it’s true. There are many male body builders who like women, and there are many women body builders who look like men after prolonged steroid use. It’s like steroids give you a free ticket pass to non-surgical gender reassignment.

If that’s not bad enough, steroids so cause real health problems. They can cause hypertension or high blood pressure, cause internal blood clotting, and increase your cholesterol levels. If you have three of those combined, they can cause heart failure.

If you are using steroids stop using them right now and only use them according to the doctor’s direction. Steroids are actually non-addicting, however, some people’s unrelenting drive to build muscles do cause them to abuse the drug.
